Optical Program Participants Pass Certification Exam
Five Incarcerated Individuals from Wallkill Correctional Facility recently passed the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) exam. The ABO certifies opticians, or those who dispense and work with eyewear. ABO certification is recognized in every state, and 90% of state licensing boards use the ABO exam as the basis for state licensing. Additionally, 75% of optical employers give preference to certified applicants during the hiring process.
